Yesterday I finally got the courage to watch Louis LeTerrier’s Clash Of The Titans remake and I was scarred mentally as the original camp Harry Hamlin version from 1981 was my earliest memory of going to the cinema. The 2010 version isn’t great but isn’t as bad as I first thought but just typical modern day fantasy, action, even thriller too fast paced if you blinked you’ll miss plus lots of little things there was no need for either. Roll on 2 years the follow up WRAITH OF THE TITANS has had a big revamp with the trailer released over the Christmas period showing much potential that this may make up for the crimes of the first films but how much we don’t know yet.
In comes new director Jonathan Leibsman, new Andromeda and Ares in shape of Rosamund Pike, Edgar Ramirez even Perseus himself has gotten himself a new hairdo or is it a Greek perm?! Warner Bros today have whisked over to The People’s Movies HQ 3 new posters one a character banner of Perseus (Sam Worthington), Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Agenor (Toby Kebell), Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and Zeus (Liam Neeson). The other 2 are also character posters one of a odd looking Kronos god of time and another of Perseus showing off his glittery new barnet.
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year-old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.
Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’s godly son, Ares, switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’s remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon’s demigod son, Agenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.
Wraith Of The Titans will be heading to the UK&Ireland March 30th and also stars Danny Huston, Bill Nighy and Matt Milne.
