It’s Time to glam up boys & Girls and get ready to rock the the boat as Warner Bros have unleashed camp central in the shape of the first trailer for Adam Shakman’s adaptation of the hit musical ROCK OF AGES. This looks a cheesy but fun film  set in 1987 when glam was rock and to be a rocker in those days was to dawn skin tight lyrca pants, bad perm, shoulder pads (that was just the boys!) but best of all great music ! Julianne Hough stars as a small time girl who moves to the big city and falls for controversial rock icon Stacee Jaxx played by Tom Cruise. I sense a big Burlesque type feel hear, it looks ridiculous hard to tell if its intentionally been camp or not. The problem sometimes with  successful stage musicals come film’s they don’t always transfer well but if it can capture the magic of the stage show in the way Mama Mia, Chicago did we could be onto a winner hear. The stars look like there having a ball and many are out of their comfort zones especially Mr Cruise  though this could how you become a more diverse but better actor as you get older

The 1980’s the decade that brought us bad fashion sense, mullet or perm hairstyles, and a generation of young people (probably parents now) wanting to hide the embarrassing photos, but also created a current generation of karaoke singers worldwide attempting to belt out the hits of Motley Crue, Europe, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Styx! We’ll leave it to the professionals!

The Rock of Ages also stars Paul Giamatti, Diego Boneta, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Mary J. Blige. You can catch Rock Of Ages rocking at a cinema near you in UK&Ireland from June 8th, 2012 and 1 week earlier in USA.

Rock of Ages tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ā€˜n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.
