“How Detached Are You?” – New International Trailer For DETACHMENT Starring Adrien Brody

Whilst im plugging away at searching for a job whilst on my unfortunate spell unemployed one of the things I’m doing to increase my chances is train to be a TEFL Teacher (Teaching English as a foreign language). Some people worry about standing up infront of children of different ages but some of the teacher’s don’t realize they have a talent to connect to the students like in Tony Kaye’s DETACHMENT. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the American History X who tried to remove his name from that film to replace it with Humpty Dumpty after the fallouts with the film’s cast, problems with the film in general but now 13 years on the director is attempting to bring back credibility to his name and Detachment looks a decent chance for that redemption.

Detachment stars Adrien Brody as Henry Barthes a teacher with a talent to connect with the students perfectly but spends his time hiding his gift and pose as a substitute teacher. Day by day Henry avoid emotional connection with the students (and colleagues) which finds him leaving before the tough gets going, he then finds himself in a public school which he quickly becomes the role model for the students. As he starts to connect with the students, his co-workers, even a runaway teen he finds finds he’s not alone in the world.

It’s a powerful looking film which I can related to in certain levels, on the job front. You go from job to job but deep down a feeling tells you something isn’t right but once you go its later down the line you get the feeling I shouldn’t have left there regretting you moved. The film has been screened at a few film festivals since it’s premiere at Tribeca Film Festival  and today we have our hands on the new French trailer which you can check out below. Detachment doesn’t have a UK&Irish release date however American film fans can check this one out first on VOD in February before getting limited release March, the film stars Adrien Brody, James Caan, Marcia Gay Harden, Christina Hendricks, Lucy Liu, Blythe Danner, Tim Blake Nelson, Bryan Cranston, William Petersen
