UK residents are being offered the chance to win their annual salary (to the value of £26,000) as a cash prize in a Facebook competition launched today, to promote the film IN TIME, released in UK cinemas November 1st 2011.
The Facebook game TIME IS MONEY challenges users to stay alive for a week by topping up their online life clock. Users must collect codes from various online and offline media partners, as well as a variety of IN TIME marketing materials, and input these into the game to increase their time.
The competition reflects the narrative of IN TIME, a film set in a world where time is the only currency. The amount of time you have on your clock determines how long you live. The rich have decades of time and can live forever whilst the rest live minute to minute trying to earn enough hours to make it through the day. IN TIME is directed by Andrew Niccol and stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy.
To play the game users need to visit and ‘Like’ the official UK IN TIME Facebook page. Users can then opt in to play TIME IS MONEY where they will be credited with 24 hours to live. This clock will run down in real-time and in order to earn more time to stay alive, users must collect codes from various media outlets including; The Metro and Bauer Media channels; Kiss 100 FM, FHM, Heat, FHM.com, Heatworld.com and 4 Music.
Codes will appear in national digital outdoor advertising, in print and online ads, as well as radio DJ shout-outs. Once a user spots a code they must go directly to the IN TIME Facebook page and enter the code into the game application. If they are successful in entering the code correctly their time will increase. The user with the most time on their clock at midnight on November 1st 2011 will win the grand prize.
