20th Century Fox Pictures have unleashed McG (yes him who destroyed Terminator) action comedy This Means War starring Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine. Hardy and Pine are best of friends but also CIA Operatives who find out there new girlfriend is the same woman (Witherspoon) and wage a war on each other using their specials as a means to defeat the other to compete for the affections of the girl in question. Romcoms that come along sadly 9 out of 10 of them fail to make an impact at the box office, disappear quickly from your cinema only to appear in the bargain section at your local DVD outlet, even mixing in another genre like action has also failed with The Killers, The Bounty Hunter 2 recent examples. After his negative response from critics for Terminator Salvation McG has a big enough task trying to convince critics he’s worthy of a decent film, This Mean’s War takes the Mr&Mrs Smith basic plot but seems to be lacking the actual comedy part of the film.
I’m all for giving films, actors, directors second chances This Means War trailer is only the first one and the film isn’t due out in UK&Ireland until February 17th 2012 hopefully th follow up trailer will show off the comedy element, if not McG could be on the way another critical backlash,only Twilight Saga and M.Night Shylamalan ive seen so much hatred from the film critics, fans alike.
