For years we’ve seen period dramas on the small and big screen but there was a time it was the period of time we would look at for our scares. We now live in a era where technology rules the waves in anything from children’s films right upto horror films but now it looks like film studios are going back to the haunting chillers once again as the film industry is been over ran by CGI to give a little refreshing change.THE AWAKENING starring Dominic West (The Wire, 300), Rebecca Hall (The Town) and Oscar®-nominee Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake), THE AWAKENING is the chilling new film from director Nick Murphy. In post-World War I England in 1921, an author and paranormal sceptic (Hall) is invited to a countryside boarding school by the history master (West) to investigate rumours of an apparent haunting. But just when she thinks she has debunked the ghost theory, she has an eerie encounter which makes her question all her rational beliefs.

To celebrate the films upcoming UK premier next week (25th& 26th) Studio Canal have sent us this bone chilling clip entitled “Mallory’s Request”, this new clip sees Dominic West’s Mr. Mallory entreat Rebecca Hall’s Florence Cathcart to consider his request for help investigating an apparent haunting at the school – and present her with some chilling, ghostly photographs.
