“Make My Day Punk” –  that was a slogan J Edgar’s director Clint Eastwood made famous in his Dirty Harry days and its appropriate slogan to describe what he’s doing for Leonardo Di Caprio’s career when you watch the movies first official trailer. J Edgar Hoover we’ve seen in many guises in television as well film (Billy Cudrup in Public Enemies been  the most recent cinematic version) but now we have a outright biopic of the man seen as the ‘father’ of  FBI a position he held for almost 50 years but also he did have a ‘private’ life that would have destroyed pubic ally. As I said earlier Eastwood is making Di Caprio’s day  as he plays Hoover  and from what we see from the trailer Di Caprio looks he’s got this one spot on  including the accent , gone are the baby face teen idol days now we have a prestige lead actor and J Edgar will help solidify that stature. After his recent directorial blimp of hereafter J Edgar certainly looks like Clint Eastwood will be back on form with the bipoic of one of Americas most most intriguing , secretive, controversial characters. The question many people ask is how sensationalised or how truthful will this film be  especially when the person is controversial?

J Edgar also stars Armie Hammer, Naomi Watts, Josh Lucas, Jeffrey Donovan, Ed Westwick,  Judi Dench with the movie coming to UK &Ireland on January 20th  2012 (USA November 9th).

Based on the life of J. Edgar Hoover, the man often credited with making the FBI what it is today: an efficient, crime-fighting organization shrouded in secrecy. Hoover founded the organization in 1935 and remained director until his death in 1972.
