It looks like Superman has a new mum in Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel according to  Deadline as Julia Ormond who was down to play Lara Lor-Van, the biological Kryptonian mother of Superman, has now pulled out.No reason has been given why the change has happened or who is at fault (was it Snyder who pulled the plug?) but  they haven’t wasted in anytime in finding a replacement and it’s Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer (Munich, Angels&Demons). The actual filming has started and Zurer will get her first taste of playing a Kryptonian   as she’s due to start filming this week alongside Russell Crowe who is Superman’s Father Jor-Ei.Zurer’s screen time will be very small compared to the rest of the cast however she still is a vital role to Superman’s reboot however alot of her scenes will be shot in studios rather than outside .

Man of Steel is due for a June 2013 summer release and will star Henry Cavil (Superman), Amy Adams (Lios Lane), Russell Crowe (Jor Ei), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Kevin Costner (Jonathan Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Michael Shannon (General Zod) and Antje Traue (Faora)

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves
