Steve McQueen’s SHAME Gets A UK Release Date

Steve McQueen‘s SHAME  is due to make it’s world premier at this month’s Venice Festival and is certainly one of the most anticipated films in the coming months. Today Momentum Pictures have been in touch to announce the movies official UK & Irish release date of January 13th, 2012, a date all true cinephiles will take note of in their dairies.

Hunger was a stunning debut for McQueen so when SHAME came on the scene the anticipation, the buzz for the film has been electric. What’s really exciting about this upcoming movie is the movie brings together McQueen and the movies lead Michael Fassbender who played Irish Republican hunger striker Bobby Sands in Hunger, a part that propelled him into the lead actor he is now.

Brandon (FASSBENDER) is a 30-something man living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life. After his wayward younger sister (MULLIGAN) moves into his apartment, Brandon’s world spirals out of control. From BAFTA award winning director Steve McQueen (HUNGER), SHAME is a compelling and timely examination of the nature of need, how we live our lives and the experiences that shape us.

Produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman (THE KING’S SPEECH), SHAME will receive its world premiere, playing in competition, at the Venice International Film Festival and also feature at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
