Finally getting to the end of my bulk emails (over 700 inbox) I amazingly got today and received this press release about The Inbetweeners the cult tv channel 4 comedy show. The movie isn’t officially released until today butafter 2 preview days the movie version has actually took in a amazing £2.5million ($4million) which in British standards is fantastic what’s even more amazing about that figure there was no press screenings so the movie has lived of the reputation of the tv series.Its a great send off for the series achieving what some so called American popular as well as other British shows that had a bigger popularity, actually getting a film made for the cinema.
The Inbetweeners movie sees the lads now finally finished school and decide to celebrate their new freedom by jetting off to the party island of Crete Greece to Malia but even the best laid out plans never work. London, UK – Entertainment Film Distributors are delighted to announce that The Inbetweeners Movie has taken a phenomenal£2,584,106 from 409 sites on its first day of previews, taking the Number 1 slot at the UK Box Office.
With the hit British TV show gracing the big screen for the first time the excitement among the devoted fans and followers has translated in to incredible first day box office figures. Exhibitors were tweeting yesterday that they were trying to add more screens where possible as they were selling out so quickly.
Producer Chris Young says “We are all delighted by the response to Jay, Neil, Simon and Will’s summer holiday. We’ve been so excited for people to see the boys on the big screen and we are thrilled that the UK feels the same!”
