I remember there was a time in my high school days a few friends including myself were fantasy roleplay gamers, we never went for the Dungeons & Dragons it was always Warhammer. It started first as the fantasy before progressing into the Warhammer 40K but as we got older we assumed we get wiser, I never went into the cosplay and acting out game I always thought that was sad but now we have KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM. Last night at Comic Con the movie presented a panel and the movie’s first trailer which you vcan check out below.
This is a LARPer‘s dream come true (Live action Roleplayers) as a group of Larpers unleash a nasty demon as fantasy gaming turns into reality in this indie comedy which looks like crossing Evil Dead with a funnier version of Your Highness layered with the typical metal soundtrack. A very 1980’s feel to this movie even a feeling of the characters been a cross of a 1980’s flick mixed up with beavis & Butthead , Bill& Ted and Waynes World. I’ll be honest I honest dont know what to think of this movie will it be a big hit? Probably more in USA rather than here in UK but who knows, as thats the great thing about movies no one knows how well they will perform!
In this humorous fantasy adventure from IndieVest Pictures, Joe (Ryan Kwanten) is a heavy metal rocker who’s just gone through a painful breakup with his girlfriend, Beth (Margarita Levieva). His concerned roommates (Steve Zahn, Peter Dinklage) kidnap him to their LARP (Live Action Role Playing) gathering, where he enters a realm of fantasy escapism in which pretend knights, elves, and barbarians clash with foam weaponry on a mock battlefield. When Joe’s “sorcerer” roommate (Zahn) inadvertently summons a deadly succubus that takes Beth’s seductive form, bloody reality crashes down upon their fantasy world. Once LARPers start to turn up dead, the make-believe wizards and warriors must become the real life heroes they have been pretending to be in order to conquer the evil that has been unleashed.
KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM stars Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn, Summer Glau, Peter Dinklage, Margarita Levieva, Jimmi Simpson, Danny Pudi, Brett Gipson, and Michael Gladis with no confirmation on the release date but expect late 2011 or early 2012.
