Universal Pictures (UK) Ltd presents…THE BIG LEBOWSKI on Blu-ray for the first time ever!

The cult classic returns with stunning picture quality and crystal clear sound as The Big Lebowski is released on Blu-ray from August 22nd. This special Blu-ray release of The Big Lebowski even comes in a unique hard backed digibook with a 24 page colour booklet, so you can spend even more time with The Dude.
The Coen Brothers’ creation – ‘The Dude’ has inspired a cult following. We’re not sure if it’s his unique fashion, taste in drinks or laid back attitude, but The Dude emanates a relaxed charm which has seduced film buffs, geeks and men in general for almost 15 years. So recline as far as your sofa will allow and watch The Dude’s adventure take flight with picture and audio quality that only Blu-ray will allow.
Oscar winner Jeff Bridges (TRON: Legacy) stars as Jeffrey Lebowski, AKA – The Dude, the ultimate LA slacker with room for only a few things in his life; bowling, white russians and marijuana. When The Dude is mistaken for Jeffrey Lebowski, the ultimate LA millionaire, he becomes involved in a kidnapping and ransom of which he knows nothing about. A sequence of events unfolds in which thugs pee on The Dude’s favourite rug (not just any rug, a rug which ties the room together), a briefcase full of dirty underwear is thrown from The Dude’s car and a severed toe with green nail polish turns up in the mail.
Starring much younger versions of John Goodman (O Brother, Where Art Thou) as Walter, Steve Buscemi (Monsters, Inc.) as Donny and Julianne Moore (The Kids Are All Right) as Maude Lebowski, the film has achieved cult status over the years as it has been noted for its idiosyncharatic characters, dream sequences, unconventional dialogue and that famous soundtrack.
More than just a cult film, The Big Lebowski has inspired a cult way of life and a devoted following of similarly laid back folk. The annual Lebowski Fest began in Kentucky, USA before expanding to several other cities including London where it is known as The Dude Abides Fest. Also, an online religion called ‘Dudism’, devoted to spreading the philosophy and lifestyle of The Dude has now ordained 50,000 ‘Dudeist Priests’ all over the world.
