How do you get some of UK’s finest actors in one place? Simple get them all to star in one film and that film is TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY. Based on the John Le Carre novel the book gets its big screen adaptation from Swedish director Thomas Alfredson who brought us the seminal arthouse movie Let The Right One In (recently remade as Let Me In) with Queen/Frost Vs Nixon  scripter Peter Morgan on writing duties. But what makes this movie so mouth watering is the wealth of talent in it: Gary Oldman,Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, John Hurt, Benedict Cumberbatch and Toby Jones!

The movie is set in Cold War era  follows George Smiley(Oldman) an retired MI6 man who brought back in to ‘ferret’ out the Russian Spy within the ranks of MI6. Apart from been an adaptation of a popular novel this isn’t the first time this has been on the screen as it was a BBC Mini series back in 1979 which had Sir Alec Guinness playing George Smiley, it also had a further mini series in 1982 called Smiley’s People. It takes a lot to actually get me interested in a story and with the simple but powerful story which seems to have the tension following in your system from go. From what we can see from the trailer this looks an fantastic movie that proves you dont have to dress up movie with ridiculous special fx to make it an intriguing powerful movie.

TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY will be released in UK &Ireland on September 16th with the American release later on in the year November 18th (very unsual for USA to wait that long! usally the other way around).

A big thanks to Optimum Releasing For sending us this fantastic trailer!
