Troy Nixey’s DON’T BE AFFRAID OF THE DARK is finally getting released after about a year in waiting for the Miramax fiasco to be sorted. The Guillermo Del Toro produced movie is finally heading to the cinema thanks to our good friends at Optimum Releasing (Film District USA) and I do think the delay may have helped the movie slightly, as its created a real buzz of anticipation to see this. The scare factor does look really awesome here so remember to take clean underwear with you for after the film, and you can clearly see Del Toro has stamped his brand of creepiness into the movie so expect every trick of the horror genre to be thrown into the mix here. This new trailer does possess the same level of scares as the teaser which came out last August, so its great to know that there is actually going to be a horror movie that’s scary!

The movie stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison and Alan Dale. The film centers on a family living in a 19th-century mansion, which they are renovating, when young Sally (Bailee Madison) unwittingly lets loose a race of ancient, dark-dwelling creatures who conspire to drag her down into the mysterious house’s bottomless depths. She must convince Alex (Pearce) and Kim (Holmes) that it’s not a fantasy-before the evil lurking in the dark consumes them all.

Below is the UK trailer that comes courtesy of Empire but below that Yahoo have just released an American version of the trailer too! DONT BE AFRAID OF THE DARK will be out on August 12th, remember to leave your bedlight on!
