We’ve been watching the British marketing for the last month or so and today Universal Pictures have released the offical American trailer for Greg Mottola’s road trip with a difference PAUL.
Apple have exclusively posted the First American trailer and it still takes the same approach as the British trailer but with more focus on the Americanisms like the country music which replaces the song ‘the two of us’ (Bill Mathers I think?). The geekiness is still there with Pegg and Frost playing to comic book geeks on a road trip across USA on the way to comiccon which turns into a road trip cum close and encounters of the third kind meeting an unlikely new ‘road buddie’ in the form of Paul an runaway alien voiced by Seth Rogen.
Before Shaun of The Dead I didnt really care much about Simon Pegg & Nick Frost’s brand of comedy, at times a little strange but when you sit down and take time to listen to the punchlines they are very funny duo. Never really been a major fan of Mottola’s brand of comedy same with Rogen a Mottola regular but the evidence from the trailers so far British & American my opinon maybe changing! Paul has a very good cast which includes Kristen Wiig, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, Joe Lo Truglio, Jane Lynch, Jeffrey Tamborand Sigourney Weaver.
PAUL will be released in The UK & Ireland on February 18th and 4 weeks later for our American cousins on March 18th.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town–a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.
