I think it’s fair to say that The Walking Dead has brought the zombie genre in to the limeight again; just as Twilight has done to the vampire genre. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies project has actually been around for a while; with Natalie Portman to play the female lead role, but also produce along side David Russell (The Fighter) directing.
Things haven’t been looking promising for the movie version, with Portman is now only involved in producing and Russell pulling out of the directors gig; Lionsgate (the project distributor) instead have brought on board, ‘Year of The Dog’ director, Mike White.
At this point no actors have been confirmed yet, but there has been many rumoured to play the movie’s main leads Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy. Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Mia Wasikowska, Tilda Swinton and Catherine O’Hara; but according to Pajiba, Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy are the latest names to be thrown into the melting pot.
Earlier indication reported that Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper were looking like the first choice, but with Hathaway & McAvoy now in the frame; may the film be heading in a new direction?
Pride & Prejudice & Zombies is an alternative version of an English literature classic. Some critics, as well fans of the book are asking, do they stick with British actors or go American? Possibly even a mix? It would be good if they pick actors who can knock off a convincing English accent no matter where they’re from .
In this report it also suggests Anne Hathaway is also in the frame for the Barbarella remake, but like many projects its finding at hard time breaking free from development hell; Barbarella had Robert Rodriguez as well as Robert Luketic connected, but like anything with no concrete conformation, we’ll just treat the above as gossip!
