December 10th sees the release of Sofia Coppola‘s SOMEHWERE starring Stephen Dorff as Johnny Marco a hard drinking party loving washed out Actor nested up in a La hotel and boredom is creeping in until his 11 year old daughter from previous marriage appears on his doorstep. Their encounters encourage Johnny to face up to where he is in life and confront the question that we all must: which path in life will you take?
After the sucess of Lost in Translation and the failure of Marie Antoinette, Somehwere is been seen as the movie to move Coppola back into the sucessfull limelight she gained in Lost in translation. At concerns where raised by some corners of the media but winning the the golden lion for best picture at Venice Film festival has put those concerns to rest. Sofia Copploa’s style may not be everyone’s cup of tea but her approach to film making is witty, empathetic moving approach to her movies characters, she really makes you feel for them. SOMEWHERE will be released in UK & reland on December 10th, USA will get a limited release on December 22nd with a national release in January.
