Withthe upcoming Sofia Coppola indie drama SOMEHWERE(out december 10th) Stephen Dorff seems to be the comeback king but its strange he’s only 37 and he already done alot in his short career. He was seen as a big hot prospect when he was young but like alot of hot prospects money, drugs, sex and fame go to your head quick and spoil your future and it was Ian Softley’s Beatles drama Backbeat where dorff when won him more plaudits from there its was like a up and down career. I enjoyed Judgement Night playing Emilio Estevez‘s on screen brother with a group of guys who tookthe wrong turn in New York on the way to a boxing match and had Dennis Leary trying to kill them all off before they shopped them. To many be it a comic book adaptation but his role as a vampire vilian in Blade was probaly his last best movie until now.
So now looking like his acting career i back in order Dorff spoke to The Independent in which told the newspaper he was working & developing a script for a comedy which would be producd by Adam Sadler‘s production company with himself and his long time good friend Jack Nicholson will be starring in:
“I like to make movies about characters. I like smaller films, that’s what I love to do,” Dorff revealed. “I love acting, number one, but I think now I’ll get more into producing and make some more films, à la Felon [a prison film which Dorff executive produced and starred in], maybe even a little bigger. I have a comedy idea that I came up with that I’m doing with Adam Sandler’s company that I want to do with Jack Nicholson, who’s still a good friend of mine.”
The last time Dorff and Nicholson appeared to together in a movie was the noir-thriller Blood & Wine in 1996 which also starred Michael Caine, Jennifer Lopez and Judy Davis. Obivously with the pair been friends the have spoken to each other about the possible project as Jack or any other actor wouldnt be pleased if a fellow actor (friend or not) states in the press there working or hoping to wor with a certain person. Sadler’s company Happy Maddison are also the company behind Dorff’s next movie in in Sadlers porn industry romp Born To Be A Star which will have Nick Swardson, Christina Ricci and Don Johnson also appearing.
Dorff tells the newspaper about the script:
“It’s a very funny comedy idea for me and him set in the South of France. We’re not in script form yet but I wrote the treatment and [the idea has] already [been] bought it so as soon as I get a break from working, I’ll turn that into a script and I’ll go and tell Jack,”
He even jokes with the paper wih a Nicholson impersanation: “Dorff, come on, let’s do it.”
“And I’ll get Sony to give him his $15m and then we’ll go and make the movie – because he likes money. Just the way I like money too.”
“after working with Sofia, I’m having a hard time finding anything that is remotely as good. Working with Sofia was kind of like the kiss of death. I told Sofia, ‘I hope we get to do another one because it’s very hard to find another one now after I’ve worked with you because it was such an amazing experience.’” – adds the star
