Thanks to AOL the first look at Rowan Joffe’s adaptation of the classic Graham Greene novel BRIGHTON ROCK has appeared online.

The movie is due to make its world premiere very shortly at the toronto film festival and this is Joffe’s directoral debut though he does have an pedigree already in screenwriter with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s 28 weeks later and Anton Corbijn’s The American (outNovember 26th) starring George Clooney part of cv.

This isn;t the first time Brighton Rock has made it to the big screen with Richard Attenbourgh starring in a classic version made in 1947 but for the newer version the 1930’s have been replaced by the swinging 1960’s,which follows the story of Pinkie, an up-and-coming scarred gangster who marries a naive waitress after she stumbles onto evidence linking him to a murder. Pinky and rose are played by Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough along with Helen Mirren, John Hurt and Andy Serkis. In this clip we see Helen Mirren’s character Ida trying to save Rose from her marriage to Pinky .

There’s no exact date for this movies release hopefully before the end of 2010 if not early 2009 as for USA the movie still doesnt have a distributor yet though that could change after Toronto.
