I must have been in Greece when this project  THE TEMPEST started to show face online as I didnt here about it until it was announced to be playing at this years Venice Film festival(as well as New York). Probably something to do with the fact it was meant to be released by Miramax but was left in  limbo when the company ceased to exist for a while but thankfully Touchstone Pictures will be doing the honours now.

Usually when Shakesphere pops up automatically schooldays crop back into your mind of the dredded English classess, William Shakesphere stories are a little bit like Charles Dickens stories there been remade ten a penny usually for television just a straight forward adaptation and that type of version of a classic story you can really only watch so many of them over and over again before you get bored and say ‘seen it all before’.

But looking at this version of  The Tempest I’m really getting excited about the movie as it does look a refreshing approach on the classic story of an woman scorned by her deceased brother and she must attempt to claim her title back from him. The lead role is played by none other than Helen Mirren and she does have hell f supporting cast: David Strathairn, Djimon Hounsou, Reeve Carney, Alan Cumming, Alfred Molina, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones, Ben Whishaw and Russell Brand.

December 10th is the American release date as for us guys here in UK & Ireland nothing confirmed yet, check out the new poster:
