As there slogan goes Fanatical About Film well they have proven it today how fanatical Odeon cinemas are as they have decided to reverse there boycott of Alice In Wonderland.

I supported Odeon’s stance against Disney but as its rivals decided to do the deal with Disney it was looking more likely that Odeon would follow suit, if they didn’t it could have had massive financial reprucussions for them.  So after lengthy discussions  Disney and Odeon have agreed a 13 week period between day one of the cinema release date until the DVD will be released, you can read the whole offical statement below.

The whole thing has been be crazy and when your so called fellow cinema chains Cineworld and Vue who first comeout stating they would consider boycott decide to do a u-turn, leaving you standing alone, the quest became pointless.  Due to whats happened it does prove a warning to all parties in future decisions must be handled carefully along with comments/input from bothsides. You simply dont want to annoy the party you want to exhibit your movies, if you do we’ll it’ll end on a sour note.

What would have been ironic if they deal was not made. Odeon cinema in Leicester Square London was to be the venue for the UK Royal gala performance, no that would have been egg on the face for Disney and Im sure Odeon would have lapped it up, wouldnt have blamed them.

As Alice In Wonderland Actor Michael Sheen(White Rabbit) said: “a storm in a mad hatter’s tea cup”.

statement:

“The Odeon and UCI Cinema Group is pleased to announce that, following detailed negotiations with the Walt Disney Company Ltd, an enduring agreement has been reached encompassing all the different aspects of both companies’ commercial relationship.

“As a result of this agreement, Odeon is pleased to confirm that it will be able to continue with its plans for significant investment in new cinemas, in digital technology, in 3D capability and the other exciting developments designed for the increased enjoyment of all its customers.”
