The Secret Of Marrowbone UK Trailer Teases Dark Secrets

In 2007 JA Bayona introduced himself to the world with the terrifying The Orphanage penned by Sergio G. Sánchez. It may be Friday 13th, but Friday 13th July Sánchez will direct his own film when The Secret Of Marrowbone is released in the UK and Ireland.

Today Entertainment One has released the film’s Official UK Trailer. A story of four siblings finds refuge in an old house after their mother’s death. A house that teases a lot of dark secrets…

The film stars George Mackay (Captain Fantastic, Pride), Matthew Stagg (Macbeth), Mia Goth (Cure For Wellness) and Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as the four siblings.Anya Taylor-Joy (Thoroughbreds) also stars continuing her stretch in the horror genre (Split, The Witch).

The trailer shows off the youngsters hide in seclusion in the old house they escape their abusive father. They may fear him finding them, there seems to be something a little more sinister with them in the house.

Along with The Impossible (Bayona’s English language debut), Sánchez worked on Pans Labyrinth and A Monsters Call. This film does have a dark tone which feels at home with The Orphanage, even Pans. These films were out when Spanish horror was at it’s best and if he can capture even a fraction of that success, this one will be an intriguing prospect. Perfect inspiration for that haunted gothic horror film.

Four siblings seek refuge in an old home after the death of their mother, only to discover that the house has another, more sinister, inhabitant, in this haunting directorial debut from Sergio G. Sánchez, screenwriter of The Orphanage and The Impossible.

The Secret Of Marrowbone comes to UK and Irish cinemas on Friday 13th July.
