The First Purge Trailer Wants ‘America Great Again’

Behind Every tradition lies a revolution and this Summer we will see that annual 12 hours lawlessness The Purge return. After 3 films like any franchise, it’s time to delve into the origins which The First Purge will do.

Universal Pictures has released the first UK Trailer, as the New Founding Fathers want to make America Great Again. Is it a Donald Trump wet dream?

Since the first film, I have to admit I’ve really liked the premise of the films. Whilst it sounded ridiculous, with the likes of Trump in power anything is believable, which is a terrifying prospect.

This time, it looks like Marisa Tomei might be the brains behind the madness. She looks to be some sort of ‘social scientist’ assigned by the ‘fathers’ to deliver that solution. Like many things, her intentions may be originally noble but those in power want a quicker, swift Violent conclusion.

This film was originally going to be called The Purge: Island, in reference to Staten Island the location of the first Purge. The cast are mostly African American, which suggests a racial political story? The horror tropes of the original film look to have gone for something possibly more action orientated with a thriller tone. Will this set up the upcoming TV Show?

“Behind every tradition lies a revolution. Next Independence Day, witness the rise of our country’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness. Welcome to the movement that began as a simple experiment: The First Purge.

To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.

The First Purge will arrive in UK and Irish Cinemas possibly July (6th). The film stars Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Luna Lauren Velez and Marisa Tomei.
