New The Greatest Showman Featurettes Look At The Creation Of The Musical

La La Land gave cinephiles the hunger for more musicals on our big screens and 20th Century Fox in December will grant that wish. The Greatest Showman promises to chronicle the remarkable rags to riches story of P.T. Barnum, played by Hugh Jackman.

Today we have a trio of new Featurettes that will take us behind the scenes of the upcoming musical that takes a sneak peek into the development of the film. As you’ll see it’s been a long road and one with many hurdles

Episode one of the series gives us a glimpse into getting the project off the ground whilst episode two sees the cast, which includes Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Zendaya, get stuck in to 10 weeks of rehearsals.

In the final featurette, Academy and Tony Award-winners Pasek & Paul talk about writing the music that powers the film; a mix of theatre and pop described by director Michael Gracey as “the best work they have ever done…”

“The Greatest Showman” is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, “The Greatest Showman” tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. “The Greatest Showman” is directed by exciting new filmmaker, Michael Gracey, with songs by Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land”) and starring Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman. Jackman is joined by Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams, Zendaya, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson.
