The Jaeger uprising is beginning today as Universal Pictures release the first explosive UK trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising. Time to ‘Rise Up!’ and watch now…
As expected with New York Comic Con now underway we were expecting several trailers to drop (hopefully The Punisher Netflix launch date too!).John Boyega has taken over the lead from Charlie Hunnam who pulled out due to scheduling conflicts with Daredevil’s Steven S.Knight now directing. Guillermo Del Toro has stepped aside is only onboard in a creative role But does this step above the generic follow up traits?
From what I can see Uprising certainly looks to take more inspiration from mecha anime and Gundam especially. The pilots are new and so are some of the robots, but the bad news is, the Kaiju’s are back too.The action looks to have risen a few notches, which will please those love the original movie. I just hope this doesn’t sink into Transformers territory, the first movie wasn’t an overall critical success, it’s still better than Bay’s Bots. There is returning cast such as Rinko Kikuchi and Boyega is playing Idris Elba’s character’s son. So are you ready to join the uprising?!
The globe-spanning conflict between otherworldly monsters of mass destruction and the human-piloted super-machines built to vanquish them was only a prelude to the all-out assault on humanity in Pacific Rim Uprising.
John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.” Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)—who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.
Jake is joined by gifted rival pilot Lambert (The Fate of the Furious’ Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (newcomer Cailee Spaeny), as the heroes of the PPDC become the only family he has left. Rising up to become the most powerful defence force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale.
Pacific Rim Uprising will arrive in Uk and Irish cinemas from March 2018.The movie stars also Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Rinko Kikuchi, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day.
