We’ve waited a long long time to get another sneak peek at that galaxy far far away and Lucasfilm has eased the pain with Star Wars: The Last Jedi second UK trailer release.
Over 6 months since the first trailer was released and thankfully ‘The Force’ is still strong. That strong Supreme leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), can feel the raw untamed power with something truly special. But who does he refer to? As you’ll see from the open part of the new trailer could it be kylo Ren (Adam Driver) or Rey (Daisy Ridley)? Is Luke Skywalker’s revelation of the end of The Jedi Order about to come true?
Be wary hardcore Star Wars fans or anyone who wants to see the movie with watching a trailer, director Rian Johnson suggests you avert your eyes. There could be some spoilers!
You could say we’re a little naive about moaning about the long wait for another trailer for Episode 8, something we should have learned from Episode 7. Like it’s the previous movie the whole story was kept under lock and key, understandably so. We love the unexpected.
During the small hours of the night the trailer drop and once again, it doesn’t disappoint.
Spoiler time…
Mark Hamill lays down his best Obi-Wan Kenobi Jedi Master vibe, (Un) reluctantly train Rey in the Jedi way? The trailer does seem to focus on Luke and his concerns. The trailer style really does play into those concerns with Rey as she seems to be turning to the Darkside? Is Kylo rejecting the Darkside? There’s a lot of smoke and mirrors going on here. The one big spoiler is with Luke’s sister, Leia as the trailer glimpses her death, the last scenes for the late Carrie Fisher who died last year. Is it her Son who is behind her death?
Elsewhere in the Galaxy Finn (John Boyega) looks to be more confident with the lightsaber and will go toe to toe with his old captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). We also get a first look at the Porgs, the new ‘Ewoks’ or Jar Jar Binks? Whatever they are they may get a little annoying for some Star Wars fans.
Overall there’s a lot happening in this trailer with a potential turning point for the franchise too. Very dark tone but with the usual Star Wars fun element. We’re excited, are you? If you are tickets go on sale today (10th October).
Star Wars: The Last Jedi lands in UK and Irish cinemas from 15th December. Also starring Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Dohmnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern.
