WWE Summerslam 2017 Preview: Championship Matches

This Sunday WWE Summerslam emulates live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Here is a preview for all the Championship matches on the card at WWE Summerslam 2017.

Brock Lesnar VS Roman Reigns VS Samoa Joe VS Braun Strowman: Fatal 4-Way For The WWE Universal Championship

Brock Lesnar shall defend his WWE Universal Championship this Sunday, in a Fatal 4-way match. The Beast shall face Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman. A few weeks ago on RAW, Paul Heyman claimed that if Lesnar loses his title at WWE Summerslam, Brock Lesnar shall leave WWE. Therefore with this in mind, this leads many to believe Lesnar shall retain the title.

At this point it should be noted that Lesnar’s WWE contract expires following Wrestlemania 34, next April. Therefore with this in mind perhaps WWE are planning a long-term build for a potential angle based upon Lesnar’s departure.

As of now I believe this bout is tough to call, as some have also seen Samoa Joe as a dark horse to win the WWE Universal Championship. None the less to be on the safe side, I am with Brock Lesnar retaining the WWE Universal Championship.

Prediction: Brock Lesnar to retain the WWE Universal Championship.

Jinder Mahal VS Shinsuke Nakamura: WWE Championship

Almost out of left-field, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated John Cena to become the number one contender for the WWE Championship. Thus this Sunday at Nakamura shall face Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship.

The novelty of Mahal’s title reign is somewhat wearing off, so with this in mind Mahal needs something to re-galvanize his run. This is where Nakamura is the perfect opponent for Mahal to face, especially on a stage such as WWE Summerslam. But despite many believing Nakamura was destined to be a leading champion in WWE, I do not believe he will win.

If WWE were to abandon Mahal’s run then it would be a waste of time, they have essentially risked a lot putting the WWE Championship on Mahal. Furthermore a name like Nakamura is ideal to put Mahal over.

So this Sunday at WWE Summerslam, I foresee Jinder Mahal retaining the WWE Championship.

Prediction: Jinder Mahal to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura to retain the WWE Championship. 

AJ Styles VS Kevin Owens: WWE United States Championship

Smackdown Live! commissioner Shane McMahon shall be the special guest referee, for the WWE United States Championship bout. AJ Styles defends his WWE US Championship against Kevin Owns at WWE Summerslam.

AJ Styles and KO have had some great matches in recent months, thus we are expecting another great bout this Sunday on PPV. The US Championship has had a back and forth couple of months, with both KO and Styles exchanging the title on numerous occassions.

This has the potential to be match of the night. None the less I predict an AJ Styles victory, thus retaining the WWE United States Championship.

Prediction: AJ Styles to defeat Kevin Owens to retain the WWE United States Championship.

Alexa Bliss VS Sasha Banks: WWE RAW Women’s Championship

Due to Bayley suffering a shoulder injury, WWE confirmed last week that she will miss WWE Summerslam. Therefore RAW hosted a number one contender’s gauntlet match, to determine a new contender for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship. Which was won by Sasha Banks, who shall face Alexa Bliss this Sunday.

This shall be an interesting bout, as the two women have rumored to have had heat with one another for almost two years. This heat is legit and not a work, as the two are said to have clashed during their parallel NXT runs. No doubt this shall be Bliss’ most intriguing challenge yet, as reigning WWE RAW Women’s Champion.

As for the outcome of the bout, I am with Sasha Banks defeating Alexa Bliss to become the new WWE RAW Women’s Champion.

Prediction: Sasha Banks to defeat Alexa Bliss to become the new WWE RAW Women’s Champion.

Naomi VS Natalya: WWE Smackdown Live! Women’s Championship

The Barclays Center shall feel the glow! As Naomi defends her WWE Smackdown Live Women’s Championship against Natalya this Sunday at WWE Summerslam.

This match shall be a unique opportunity for both women, Naomi can extend her reign and further prove herself as a champion. On the other hand Natayla can provide a worthy challenger for Naomi, so essentially this bout meets they eye more than we know.

I predict a title retention for Naomi, furthermore a cash in from Carmella at WWE Summerslam.

Prediction: Naomi to defeat Natalya to retain the WWE Smackdown Live! Women’s Championship

Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins VS Sheamus & Cesaro: WWE RAW Tag Team Championships

The seeds have been planted for a Shield reunion, for the time being at least. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins shall face Sheamus & Cesaro for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championships this Sunday at WWE Summerslam.

Slowly but surely the WWE universe shall see the re-birth of the Shield. Now with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins on the same page, we now await Roman Reigns to join the fold, eventually. The former Hounds of Justice brothers shall attempt to take the WWE RAW Tag Titles from Sheamus and Cesaro.

Summerslam shall mark the expected and begin the long awaited re-birth of the Shield, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins shall walk out of Summerslam; WWE RAW Tag Team Champions.

Prediction: Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins to defeat Sheamus & Cesaro to become WWE RAW Tag Team Champions.

The New Day VS The Usos: WWE Smackdown Live! Tag Team Championships

A feud that has revitalized the Smackdown Live! tag team division. Since the New Day’s arrival to Smackdown Live! In addition to this, the Usos have also been brilliant on their heel run, strecthing back to last year.

These two teams never have a bad match, in-fact they are inclined to have great matches as they worked together a ton of times. This Sunday I expect no different from the teams, as they shall bring the best out of each other.

I expect the New Day to retain the WWE Smackdown Live! Tag Team Champions.

Prediction: The New Day to defeat the Usos to retain the WWE Smackdown Live! Tag Team Champions.

Neville VS Akira Tozawa: WWE Crusierweight Championship

In a shocking turn of events this past week on Monday Night RAW, Akira Tozawa defeated Neville to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championships. This Sunday, they shall clash once more in a rematch for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Neville has been the saving grace of the Cruiserweight division, however his eight month reign is over. Akira Tozawa toppled the king of the cruiserweight’s, also adding some joy for the Titus brand.

Despite Tozawa winning the championship this past week on RAW, I genuinely believe Neville will regain the championships this Sunday.

Prediction: Neville to defeat Akira Tozawa to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
