Watch Light Meet Ryuk In New Death Note Clip

It’s coming thick and fast from San Diego Comic Con, Adam Wingard‘s ‘Americanised’ version of the cult Manga/Anime Death Note is only a few weeks away. It’s not just another animated version, this will be a live action version which will attract hardcore fans but sadly sceptics who want to rip into the ‘White-washing’. Like everything sometimes it’s better to judge after you see it.

Netflix will be hoping the dark sense of humour and timing The Guest/You’re Next director has will match the tone of the manga-turned-anime created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. So Far so good and today another promo this time a new clip has been released online direct from Comic Con. Fans of the original will recognise the clip is a pivotal moment from the story. Entitled ‘Light Meets Ryuk‘, Light’s entrance into the dark world of Ryuk began with one name, meeting the Death God himself. As you’ll see the God loves apples!

Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realising it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.

You’re Next) and stars Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Paul Nakauchi (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Shea Whigham (American Hustle) and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as the voice of Ryuk.

After premiering at this year’s Horror Channel Frightfest in London next month Death Note will be released exclusively on Netflix including UK & Ireland from 25th August.
