With Marvel Comic’s Cinematic Universe already established and DC slowly catching up, there’s always questions about other potential Comic book movies. Valiant Comics have taken first steps to join them with Shadowman comic book showcasing the independent comic books have a lot to offer to the movie universe.
In a news story exclusively posted by The Hollywood Reporter, that director and producer Reginald Hudlin will direct the movie.Hudlin made a name for himself in the 1990’s with comedies such as Boomerang, The Ladies Man, House Party he also produced Django Unchained for Quentin Tarantino. Hudlin also is a comic book writer with Black Panther being one of those titles he has written for which shows he’s a great choice to direct this movie.
Shadowman movie project has been trying to get off the ground since 2012, and now a new team has been created around Reginald Hudlin. Writer Adam Simon who was Salem Showrunner has come onboard next to J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Sense8)who will rewrite the script.
Shadowman was created in 1992 by Jim Shooter and Steve Englehart and drawn by Mike Manley. The story was based around a New Orleans Jazz musician Jack Boniface who after a one night stand with a woman his life was turned upside down. He becomes infected by a spirit that grants him supernatural powers, powers that make him a mystical defender of Earth against demonic invasion. He must face Master Darque who is determined to break down the wall between reality and the deadside.
Things have been slow at Valiant in regards to their steps into movie land with several of their titles been set up for movie adaptations. Harbinger (was originally the title to kick things off, Bloodshot, Archer & Armstrong hoping to get movies directed too.
Reginald Hudlin has directed a movie Marshall, the biopic based on Thurgood Marshall starring Chadwick Boseman is due out October.Powered by Sidelines
