As one new chapter to another Ridley Scott classic is merely days away from the big screen (Alien: Covenant), later this year Denis Villeneuve brings another…Blade Runner 2049.We maybe 5 months away before the movie arrives Sony Pictures are eager to get us onboard and tonight have released a brand new full UK trailer. A trailer that finally gives us an insight into the story as well as the tense promo is full of replicants and Jared Leto.
36 years is a long time to wait for a sequel, though we won’t try second guess the reasons for that long wait. Now it’s nearly here but why is K (Ryan Gosling) on a quest to find Deckard (Harrison Ford)?
The sequel takes us 30 years into the future since the original movie. Set in Los Angeles 2049 we meet LAPD Officer K (Gosling) who is the new ‘Blade Runner’. When he unearths a secret, he must track down the legendary Deckard (Ford) or what’s left of society will plunge deeper into chaos. What secret does a runner whose been missing for 30 years?
Visually Blade Runner 2049 looks incredible but so do som man of Villeneuve’s movies largely thanks to his choice of great cinematographers. For this one, he re-teams with Roger Deakins whom he worked with on Prisoners and Sicario.People maybe still a tad sceptical if this movie will deliver, it’s riveting stuff and we expect there will be high expectations for this to deliver too.The trailer also provides a lot of atmospheres and tone as well.
This new promo introduces new characters especially Leto and Robin Wright, but the big question everyone will want to know is Deckard a replicant? Could K be one too? Could the big secret be all ‘humanity’ that’s still living be replicants? We hope it’s not as straightforward as this and hopes Villeneuve takes a similar thematic approach as he did in Arrival.
Blade Runner 2049 is set for a 6th October 2017 UK & Irish release date co-starring Barkhad Abdi, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis.
