Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled Boarding School From Hell, Watch New Trailer

Hell hath no fury than a Nicole Kidman scorned and the new second UK trailer for Sofia Coppola’s Cannes-Bound The Beguiled. Colin Farrell is a man stuck in a boarding school from hell and he’s in a bit of a mess especially if he has Kidman wanting a bloody revenge, check out the new trailer…

Soon to make its world premiere at Croisette when seduction and jealousy will spread like the plague. Men beware as these young ladies have a strict conservative upbringing but don’t tempt them. If you’ve read the 1966 Thomas P. Cullinan novel and the 1971 Don Siegal movie (starring Clint Eastwood) you’ll know things take a dark twisted turn.

The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier(Colin Farrell). As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.

It looks like the difference between 1971 version and Coppola’s version is the focus has shifted from the Soldier to the young women and their teachers. You could say this new trailer reveals some big moments, teasing us with the tensions of a man, a soldier from the Union with the girl’s vulnerability. Like anything never judge a book by its cover and Farrell will soon find out curiosity killed the cat. A sexual curiosity that could see these “vengeful bitches” with Nicole Kidman as their headmistress anything can happen, as she knows what those men want.

The Beguiled is new territory for Sofia Coppola, stepping into genre movie however 11 years ago she did release a period drama of Marie Antoinette. Like or loathe her films, they always look a visual treat and after The Bling Ring, she’s due a good turn.

The Beguiled has a new UK&Irish release date of 14th July and will co-star, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Angourie Rice, Emma Howard, Addison Riecke.
