Get The Spandex On And Check The Netflix GLOW Images

Let’s get ready to rumble!!! The past weekend saw an end of an era in Sports Entertainment’s premiere event Wrestlemania 33 which marked the last match for the legendary Undertaker. If you’re like some of us rather get a little bit more colourful, nostalgic and remember the 1980’s WWF era the upcoming Netflix series GlOW might tickle your fancy.

GlOW is based on the 1980’s short-lived Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling (GLOW) based in Las Vegas, a circuit that would have its own tv show. A much loved show that’s now getting its own feature from the team behind Nurse Jackie and Orange Is New Black (Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch). Alison Bree leads the cast as an out of work struggling actress looks for that last kick at stardom.

In anticipation of the June premiere of GLOW, Netflix has released a set of first look images from the upcoming comedy series.

GLOW tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling. In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin) a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture perfect life is not what it seems. And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom.

GlOW will make its premiere on Netflix in all territories including Uk & Ireland from 23rd June.
