Watch New Epic Wonder Woman ‘Origins’ Trailer

In the recent poster,  we were asked ‘to believe in her’, the woman who trains to be the queen one day, the saviour of the modern world. As promised a new UK trailer for Wonder Woman was coming and today it has arrived which focuses on Diane Prince origins. Watching the girl become a warrior, the legend we know from DC Comic books, see her gain her strengths, powers and step up to her true destiny. Check out the trailer…

DC will be hoping their Amazonian princess’ warrior will rejuvenate their struggling Extended universe and Patty Jenkins like her female protagonist. Maybe all DC needs is a woman’s touch to get things back in order, ‘believe in Patty‘.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Whilst many previous comic book movies (Marvel and DC ones) have all went for the more gritty, realist tone which has worked in many ways. Looking at this trailer Patty Jenkins looks to have reversed things going to styling that’s more that home with Richard Donner than Christopher Nolan. Which could be a refreshing addition to the sub-genre which has been close to a collapsing into a stagnant predictable state. This trailer is focused on our heroine with the previous trailers more on Wonder Woman‘s impact in what her Queen Hippolyta’s calls ‘The Man’s world’.Seeing Themyscira scenes just look gorgeous, the majority of the scenes filmed on location in Italy around Ravello, Salerno just off the Amalfi Drive.

Though we may have shown a bias in the past few years for Marvel movies personally I equally adore many DC characters and hope this will deliver. I have hope this will and so far the trailers do back up the idea DC finally might have a movie the critics and fans will adore.

Wonder Woman is set for 2nd June UK & Irish, USA cinema release. Starring Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewan Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui.
