Official UK Trailer And Poster For Lady MacBeth

From Altitude Film Distribution  have sent us the official poster for Lady Macbeth, ahead of its release in UK cinemas on April 28th, 2017. The film provides a look into the tragic story of a beautiful, determined and merciless young woman seizing her independence in a world dominated by men.

Rural England, 1865. Katherine (Florence Pugh) is stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man twice her age, and his cold, unforgiving family. When she embarks on a passionate affair with a young worker on her husband’s estate, a force is unleashed inside her so powerful that she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

The film is loosely based on a nineteenth century novella called Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District by Nikolai Leskov and was later adapted as an Opera. Lady Macbeth is a tragic portrait of a beautiful, determined and merciless young woman seizing her independence in a world dominated by men.

Lady Macbeth is the debut feature film from theatre director William Oldroyd.

Lady MacBeth was on our radar when the movie played last month’s Glasgow Film Festival, sadly, movie clashes and illness we were unable to catch the movie. Thankfully not long to go until it arrives in UK&Irish cinemas and that date is April 28th.

The movie stars Florence Pugh (The Falling and Screen Star of Tomorrow) takes the lead in the 19th Century period drama. Cosmo Jarvis (Spooks: The Greater Good) plays opposite Pugh while supporting cast include Paul Hilton (Wuthering Heights), newcomer Naomi Ackie and Christopher Fairbank.
