Watch UK Trailer For Lone Scherfig’s Their Finest Starring Gemma Arterton

History foretells the war effort can be a strenuous affair for everyone involved, even at home as people struggle to keep morale high during dark times. In Lone Scherfig‘s Their Finest starring Gemma Arterton is one young woman attempting to keep morales high during World War 2. Creating a movie to boost the spirits but her movie does have another purpose, can it convince the Americans to join the War?

After a positive run at several film festivals worldwide last Summer (including a rapturous reception at the Toronto ), Lionsgate films have picked the perfect time to release the UK trailer

Their Finest based on Lissa Evans’ novel, ‘Their Finest Hour and a Half’, is a witty, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her way, and her voice, in the mayhem of war… and the movies.

1940, London, the Blitz; with the country’s morale at stake, Catrin (Gemma Arterton), an untried screenwriter, and a makeshift cast and crew, work under fire to make a film to lift the nation’s flagging spirits; and inspire America to join the war. Partnered with fellow writer, Buckley (Sam Claflin), the pair, along with fading matinee idol Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy), reluctantly joins forces on a movie to warm the hearts of the nation and capture the imagination of the US public.

This movie looks a perfect example of why Film festivals play an important role in a movie’s marketing. Great place to test run and like Scherfig’s An Education help created a fantastic buzz for with the public and critics. From that buzz, this is turning out to be a surprising crowd pleaser.

Their Finest is set for a 21st April cinema release here in UK&Ireland. In the USA  the movie will arrive Late March with its U.S premiere later this month at Sundance Film Festival.

The movie also stars Eddie Marsan, Jack Huston, Helen McCroy, Richard E.Grant and Paul Ritter.
