MOANA’S MISSION — Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) may be a demigod—half god, half mortal, all awesome—but he’s no match for Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho), who’s determined to sail out on a daring mission to save her people. Moana's first challenge is convincing Maui to join her. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, produced by Osnat Shurer, and featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa‘i, “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016. ©2016 Disney. As Kubo And The Two Strings sees us in Mythical Japan, this December Disney‘s next animated adventure Moana will sail the Polynesian right of passage. After the success of Zootropolis this December we sail into our cinemas and today we have a full UK trailer which shows our hero (Auli’i Cravalho) and Demi-God(Dwayne Johnson) sail into the realm of the monsters, check it out…

When your a princess your duty is to do anything to protect your subjects, your people even if that means taking a right of passage into the dangerous seas of The Pacific? Even with the company of Maui a Demi-God and a talking rooster called Hei Hei(Alan Tudyk)?

Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes Moana, a sweeping adventure about a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demi-god Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), and together, they traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds.

When it comes to Disney animation features they don’t do anything small, so whatever happens critically Moana will be an epic adventure. One that will appeal not just to young boys but also young girls with our titular character been a young woman (Cravalho). Some may say it’s a risky move having an unknown lead a film but when you have Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson who has charisma as big as Mount Everest your onto a winner. Perfect to play a demi-God plus he gets bums on seats too! The question is will the film match or even do better than Zootropolis?

Disney have worked on keeping this film as authentic as possible using local Polynesian actors or actors with an Pacific Islander heritage like Johnson. The film looks gorgeous, beautifully constructed, magical, enticing, great Polynesian music, even has a script from Hunt For The Wilderpeople director Taika Waititi (whose also directing next Thor movie too!).

Moana will arrive in UK&Irish cinemas, 1 week after USA on 2nd December. Also starring the voices of Jemaine Clement, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Scherzinger.
