Nerve

Are you a watcher or player? Lionsgate Film UK have unveiled the UK trailer for Nerve as Catfish creators Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman invite us into the most dangerous game on the internet. Will you be watching or playing?

Give a youngster mobile phone or tablet, their heads will be crouched over the small screen with life based around hashtags and social media. Life for an young adults seems to be set all online these days, so what better way than base a film around an online game. So log in and strip down to your underwear play the game!

Nerve follows industrious high school senior, Vee Delmonico (Emma Roberts), who has had it with living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.

The old fashioned form of communicating disappeared when phones got more powerful empowering more folks so much like a drug. Sometimes we get blinded by the positives we forget the dangers technology posses. This does reminds us at times of David Fincher‘s The Game, however it walks the tight-rope of revealing too much in the trailer. If Joost and Schulman can capture the dark tone of Catfish this might be solid thriller lead by 2 young actors who seem to project enough screen presence mark this a worthwhile look.

Nerve also stars Dave Franco,Juliette Lewis, Emily Meade, Samira Wiley, Miles Heizer, Kimiko Glenn, and Machine Gun Kelly.Get ready to play or watch the film in UK&Ireland 12th August.
