This week saw the home release of Maze Runner: The ScorchTrials on DVD and Blu-ray which saw our Gladers escape their lush surroundings only find themselves even deeper into the mystery.

As part of the film’s home release promotion our good friends at Fox Home Entertainment have sent us an exclusive video interview with the film’s director Wes Ball. In the interview talks about the film, describing what the ‘Scorch’ is and why the film is basically a road movie.

Some critics felt disappointed with this film after the unexpected success of the first film. We have to disagree, personally like many franchises it’s the middle film, setting things up for the final film(s). It may not have had as THE SCORCH TRAILS BDmuch action but unveiled a lot of little pieces to jigsaw. Revelations, shocking truths, learning more about the outside world setting things up nicely. It’s a solid film, not perfect a road movie that sets up the installment for The Maze Runner franchise as fans of the books know things are going to get worse before they get better!

The Maze was just the beginning. After the harrowing adventure of escaping the maze, the Gladers find themselves right in the center of an epic mystery in MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS.

Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.

Starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Barry Pepper, Lili Taylor and Patricia Clarkson.
