After rave reviews at Sundance Film Festival we take a step closer to the general release of Brooklyn as we watch the first UK trailer. Saoirse Ronan continues flower her versatility in the acting world as two countries, two love and one heart is torn apart…

Based on Colm Tóibín’s bestselling novel, John Crowley‘s Brooklyn is set in 1950s,the story of a young woman, Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) who moves from small town Ireland to Brooklyn, NY where, unlike home, she has the opportunity for work and for a future – and love, in the shape of Italian-American Tony (Emory Cohen). When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself absorbed into her old community, but now with eligible Jim (Domhnall Gleeson) courting her. As she repeatedly postpones her return to America, Eilis finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma – a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.

With us now halfway through the so called blockbuster season, trailer attention is now focusing on the Autumn period which means the early contenders for the awards season are arriving. Brooklyn was unfortunately one of the films we couldn’t see at Sundance but what we can see is Ronan’s emotive performance is one of the reasons to see this. Powerful cinematography, an immigrant that’s poignant, heartbreaking story that would even bring a tear to Nigel Farrage’s eye.

Brooklyn will arrive in UK&Irish cinemas this November co-starring Domhnall Gleeson, Emory Cohen, Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters.
