For a couple of years in the early 200s, audiences were treated to a number of natural disaster films, notably The Day After Tomorrow and 2012. However since 2012’s release in 2009 the disaster movie died a death, with the Zombie apocalypse taking over as the number one world-ending event. With the upcoming release of San Andreas next month starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, undoubtedly one of the biggest action stars of the moment, could the tide begin to turn?
Synopsis: After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter.
But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.
The final earth-shattering trailer was released last month (you can see it here), but today we have a brand new clip from the film featuring some intense action to whet your appetite.
San Andreas also stars Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd, Paul Giamatti, and Archie Panjabi, and is released in UK cinemas on 29th May.
