The first international trailer of Mike Newell’s Great Expectations has arrived online. Based on the classic Charles Dickens story of the same name the film is due to make its world premier at Toronto Film Festival and as usual Literature classics are always treated with the up most respect with a stellar cast which includes Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes  Holliday Grainger, Robbie Coltrane, Ewen Bremner, Jason Flemyng, Sally Hawkins, David Walliams, Helena Barlow and Toby Irvine.

Here in the UK especially BBC you can guarantee there will be some adaptation of a literature classics and does get a repetitive sometimes a little boring same old same old however for some reason when its film on the big screen  we seem to enjoy a little better. The film marks Mike Newell’s first film since his dreadful Prince Of Persia, also his first dip back into his classic literature routes it does have a compelling dark feel to it but if you know Dickens there’s never blue skies nor green fields just grim reality of class based societies.Did I mention gritty too. Now would you ever call a Charles Dickens story Gritty? Well we know have one and the biggest adaptation to date for the story.

Great Expectations will be released 30 November 2012 will be released in UK&Ireland, don’t be surprised if this one appears at London Film Festival in October.

A terrifying encounter with an escaped convict in a graveyard on the wild Kent marshes; a summons to meet the bitter, decaying Miss Havisham and her beautiful, cold-hearted ward Estella; the sudden generosity of a mysterious benefactor – these form a series of events that change the orphaned Pip’s life forever, and he eagerly abandons his humble origins to begin a new life as a gentleman. Dickens’s haunting late novel depicts Pip’s education and development through adversity as he discovers the true nature of his ‘great expectations’. Amazon
