When you look back to last summer no one expected Bridesmaids to be the success it was, since then we expected a number of wannabe films however that never happened. Sundance earlier this year one potential candidate appeared, Bachelorette and tonight the film’s first official trailer has appeared online which shows The Bridesmaids formula can still work.
Starring Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, Isla Fisher and Rebel Wilson Bachelorette follows the story of 3 best friend (Dunst, Caplan, Fisher) who are invited to act as Bridesmaids for Becky (Wilson) a very unpopular girl they called ‘pigface’ at school. The four girls all head out on the town for the bachelorette party which spirals out of control. The film did have a mixed response at Sundance festival though more positive than negative however it’s the Bridesmaids comparisons that have gotten this a lot of attention. Whilst Bridesmaids was all the bachelorette party getting cancelled in Bachelorette the party is the centre piece of the film. This one looks to delve into a few dark overtones which some people may think it’s a little too low below belt but focus on the cast as it looks they provide some great acting with Rebel Wilson been the star of the show.
Will Ferrell, Adam McKay (Anchorman) produce Bachelorette with Leslye Headland directing, the film also stars James Marsden and Adam Scott . No U.K & Ireland date has been confirmed however USA the film will first appear on VOD August 10th, then a cinema release September 7th.
