In the number of biopics that come and gone the past few years, it’s surprising there hasn’t been a film for the master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock. Thankfully that gap will be filled and in 2013 Sacha Gervasi’s HITCHCOCK (formerly known as Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho) will be released and today we have our first official look at Alfred Hitchcock himself played by Anthony Hopkins.
To be honest the resemblance is very good if Anthony Hopkin’s name wasn’t mentioned you could swear it was Hitchcock as he has all the right shapes of the great man from stare to pose (looks like the actor has gained a few pounds in the name of art too!). The film takes place during the making of Pyscho focusing on the the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren), but history does tell Hitchcock was an difficult filmmaker to work with but this film may show him in a more friendlier tone.
Like the saying you wait ages for one bus and when it comes three arrive but in the case of Alfred Hitchcock films it’s 2 with Toby Jones playing the master of suspense in BBC 2 Julian Jarrold’s The Girl. The tv film will focus on Hitchcock’s obsession with The Bird’s star Tippi Hendren (to be played by Sienna Miller).
Hitchcock is due for a 2013 release (no exact date confirmed just yet) and will also star Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Kurtwood Smith.
