WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN Will Shatter You This February

We Need to Talk about Kevin has today been nominated for Outstanding British Film at the 2012 Orange British Academy Film Awards, to take place 12 February at London’s Royal Opera House.

Academy Award® Winner Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton, I Am Love) who puts in yet another exceptional performance in the critically acclaimed film has also been nominated in the Leading Actress category with Lynne Ramsay up for Best Director.

This continues the critical success for the film with Director Lynne Ramsay (Ratcatcher) having already picked up the award for Best Director at the 2011 British Independent Film of the Year Awards.

Also a winner at the 2011 London Film Festival for Best Film, We Need to Talk About Kevin stars Academy Award nominee® John C. Reilly (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) and a truly mesmerising performance from Ezra Miller (City Island) as the titular Kevin. The film was also the only British film to be officially selected for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and was shot by Oscar nominated cinematographer Seamus McGarvey (Atonement).

“This is an earth- Shattering film”

- THE TIMES

Eva (Tilda Swinton) puts her ambitions and career aside to give birth to Kevin. The relationship between mother and son is difficult from the very first years. When Kevin is 15, he does something irrational and unforgivable in the eyes of the community. Eva grapples with her own feelings of grief and responsibility. Did she ever love her son? And how much of what Kevin did was her fault.

EXTRAS :(DVD & Blu-ray) Interview with cast and crew, trailer

Anyone Who knows me knows this was one if it my favourite film of 2011, not many films have left me speechless like what Lynne Ramsay’s film has done. It was robbed at Cannes for The Palm D’or and never got a whisker at any nomination yesterday’s Oscars which should have had Tilda Swinton at least in the running for Best Female performance but as politics goes in film that Oscar is been handed to Meryll Streep on a plate (The Peoples Movies suport goes to Rooney Mara).
