Joseph Gordon Levitt is in a Premium Rush, watch the trailer
To say today was an easy one is an understatement, The Peoples Movies HQ was been decorated (has been for past 2 weeks) the job is nearly finished but its been a pain trying to get back on track to get things done in a slight rush and Joseph Gordon Levitt seems to be in a bit of a rush too with Premium Rush. Sony Pictures have released the first trailer which sees Gordon Levitt play Wilee a courier bike rider in New York City who takes on a delivery he wishes he never and becomes a ride for his life.
The movie does look a high octaine stylish thrill ride , the stylish part is probably due to the movies writer-directer David Koepp who is an renowned scripter with Jurassic Park, Ghost Town, Mission Impossible and more recently Men In Black 3 under his belt . There is the small matter that Michael Shannon is in this playing the bad guy (there’s a surprise!) and the sexy Jamie Cheung is playing the pretty ex-Girlfriend which gets Wilee into the mess in the first place. There’s no denying Joseph Gordon Levitt is an exceptional talent and the quality of his recent films has been at a high level but we all tend to get into a comfort zone and assume everything he’ll make is great which is a little risky because even great actor make the odd bad movie. Its seems to be the general consensus with Premium Rush its a hard one to call if this movie is any good, it does have the markings a good movie but also has a few weak spots too, its early days so we’re willing to give this one a chance.
As it says in the trailer 2012 before we see this and its February 3rd before we see it here in UK&Ireland, for American cinephiles January 13th.
Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day’s work for Wilee, the best of New York’s agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie — super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and suicidal nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic.
But a guy who’s used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when a routine delivery turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan. When Wilee picks up his last envelope of the day on a premium rush run, he discovers this package is different. This time, someone is actually trying to kill him.
