THE 2011 Orange BAFTA Nominations Annouced

, , Leave a comment

It hardly been 48 Hours since the Golden Globes Awards in Beverly Hills that Britians (and movie worlds) most important awards ceremonies Orange BAFTAs (British Academy Film Awards) were annouced in London this morning. After a short speech from the Awards chairman Tim Corrie, actors Dominic Cooper and Talulah Riley read out the categories for the awards and right away there was no big surprises on what movies which would pick up the most nominations.

The Kings Speech picked up a whopping 14 nominations with Darren Aronfky’s Black Swan picking up 12 nominations with the other big hitters Inception getting 9 and Coen Brother’s True Grit snatching only 8 with some critics finding this very dissapointing due the fantastic American reviews (UK release 14th February). The movie I’m a little dissapointed it never made more awards is David Fincher’s The Social Network 6 nominations, the one that did scare me was Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland scooped 5 Noms but thankfully they are all in the technical categories, I am pleased Chris Morris Four Lions is up for two including  Best British movie  as it was a movie heavily critised by the right wing media  highlighting a sensative subject of terrorism making it look silly.

As usual the awards ceremony will be broadcast live on BBC One on Sunday February 13th at London’s Royal Oprea Hall with your host been Jonathan Ross (Back on BBC again after his shennagins last year) and ill do my best to get a live tv feed online for anyone to watch. I know some no British film fans may complain about a bias towards British made movie, but think about it when the American Based awards play its American movies get the nod ahead of others plus you can say this about any country in th world which has a movie industry with awards ceremonies.

Ceck out the full list of nominees below and you’ll notice also a video which isthe actual nominations ceremony . So what do you think guys? Surprised of who got what nominations and is there any movies, actors, etc your dissappointed never got more nominations or should hae been selected? Leave your thoughts in the comments box!
