When I lived in Manchester a few years ago my Mancunian friend kept asking me what a NED was as alot of Scots he knew always refered to people as Neds. I told him its a Non-Educated Delinquent he was just more confused until I mentioned to him its the Scottish version of a Chav or Scally and he knew right away what I meant. To make things clearer though they are similar they can also be different but there attitude similar, though both have there own fashion style, choice of liquid refreshment and there own form of language.
Peter Mullan the acclaimed actor (Last seen in Harry Potter) & film director new movie NEDS is about those uneducated chaps but from a different era the 1970’s when the neds where notorious members of knife carrying gangs gave the city a rough dangerous place to go to, a era Mullan himself could relate to as he was a young man in the city ahd witnessed friends been tragically killed thus the reason for this movie.
Thanks to our good friends at HeyUguys they caught up with the director and one of the movies stars Conor McCarron had a chat about the movie, Neds in the cinemas from today.
