Spanish Star Alex Gonzalez Joins X-MEN:FIRST CLASS As Riptide

The filming for Matthew Vaughn‘s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS maybe already kicked off but the cast forthe movies just seems to get bigger week by week. According to Fotogramas [via ScreenRant] Spanish actor Alex Gonzalez has joined the ever increasing cast and he’s joining the badguys as Riptide.

Who Riptide is, he is one of Mr Sinister’s henchmen who has had a few run ins with the X-men espcially Nightcrawler and Colossus (whom killed the original Riptide, with only for Riptide to be cloned)  and as for his powers, well you can call him the human tasmainian devil with shurikens!

From the Marvel Wiki:

Riptide is a mutant with the ability to spin his body at an incredibly fast rate. Upon reaching his top speed, Riptide then hurls shuriken and other objects created from calcified masses at such high velocity that they can punch through steel.

Will Mr Sinister actually be in this prequel? We dont know yet but it was thought that Kevin Bacon would be Sinister but he is to play sebastian shaw, possibly the name will be dropped into the film when needed. What part or how big of part Riptide will be playing is uncertain as theres so many characters now set to be in a movie, so many of the characters will only be non speaking just to be in the background and others may have small supporting roles with a bit of talking. I find it a little strange that a 1980’s created character is now going to be in a 1960’s based origins movie!

Dont be surprised if a few other names are thrown in, so lets see whose already in the movie:

James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Bill Milner as Young Magneto, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Morgan Lily as Young Mystique, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert,Oliver Platt as The Man in Black,January Jones as Emma Frost ,Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore and now….Álex González as Riptide.

THE X-MEN: FIRST CLASS will be at a cinema near you from June 2011.
